How to Grant Team Members Access to Meta Ads Facebook Business Manager

The Painful Process of Adding Team Members

Meta has made granting marketing agency and other team members Meta Business Suite access really painful, so get ready.

Step 1: Navigate to Users Settings

Try going here to Meta Business Suite > Settings > Users > People
Direct link: https://business.facebook.com/latest/settings/business_users

Click "Invite people"

Business user management interface showing active profiles.

Step 2: Send the Invitation

Invite the person (often using their personal email tied to their Facebook account, but you can try adding business emails here and see if it works for you).

Feel free to try to assign them as much access as needed or possible, but sometimes this is better to do afterward.

The Approval Requirement

For some reason, another admin now has to approve the request these days, which completely sucks and makes this even harder to coordinate with your company's team members.

"Invitation request sent to people with full control to review

We require another person with full control of the [your company's] business portfolio to approve invitations before they're sent. This protects the business portfolio from potentially harmful requests."

Finding the Approval Section

This took us forever to find but we finally found it here under Settings > Requests > Other requests > Access Review

Completing the Process

THEN the team member can finally receive and accept their invitation to Meta Ads (Facebook Ads) Business Manager. They may need to verify their account through 2FA before the invitation is fully accepted.

Assign them to Pages, Ad Accounts, Pixels, and Instagram Accounts as needed.

Mildly Optional

Curse this awful company and everything it's done to the world.

Frequently Asked Questions About Meta Ads Access

Why does Meta require another admin to approve user invitations?

Meta implemented this additional security measure to protect business accounts from unauthorized access. While the intention is to prevent potentially harmful requests, it creates an additional coordination challenge for businesses, especially those with small teams or limited admin availability.

Which email should I use when inviting team members?

For best results, use the personal email address associated with the team member's Facebook account. Business emails can sometimes work, but the connection to an existing Facebook profile typically streamlines the acceptance process.

Can I add users without full admin access?

Yes, Meta Business Manager allows you to assign various permission levels to different team members. You can grant specific access to particular assets (like ad accounts or pages) without providing full control of your business account. This granular approach to permissions helps maintain security while enabling collaboration.

What should I do if the invitation expires?

Meta invitations typically have a limited validity period. If an invitation expires before being accepted, you'll need to initiate a new invitation through the same process. Be sure to communicate with your team member to ensure they accept the invitation promptly.

How do I find pending invitations and approval requests?

Pending invitations can be found under Settings > Requests > Other requests > Access Review. The direct link is: https://business.facebook.com/latest/settings/bm_requests. This section displays all pending approvals and allows admins to accept or reject invitation requests.

Is two-factor authentication (2FA) required for team members?

While not always mandatory, Meta increasingly requires 2FA for business account access as a security measure. Team members may need to set up 2FA during the account verification process before they can fully access your business assets.

Can I assign someone to manage specific pages or ad accounts only?

Yes, Meta Business Manager allows for asset-specific permissions. After adding a user to your Business Manager, you can assign them to specific Pages, Ad Accounts, Pixels, or Instagram Accounts with customized permission levels for each asset.

What if we don't have another admin to approve invitations?

This presents a significant challenge under Meta's current system. If your business only has one admin, you may need to temporarily elevate a trusted team member to admin status solely for the purpose of approving new invitations, then adjust their permissions afterward.
