Founder, President & Chief Strategy Officer, Asymmetric Marketing

Mark Hope is the Founder, President & Chief Strategy Officer of Asymmetric Marketing, a strategy-first growth consultancy. His career spans elite military service, enterprise leadership at two of the largest companies in their categories, and founding multiple ventures of his own. It is the throughline behind Asymmetric’s approach to competitive strategy.

Mark began his career in U.S. Army Special Operations, serving from 1977 to 1988 in the 1st and 3rd Battalions of the 75th Ranger Regiment and as an Operator in 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment–Delta (1st SFOD–Delta). The discipline that defines that world (rigorous planning, reading an adversary, and winning from a position of disadvantage) became the foundation of the competitive methodologies he practices today.

He went on to senior corporate leadership inside the category-leading brands challengers have to outmaneuver. At The Coca-Cola Company he was a senior regional executive across Central Europe, running marketing and market research at enterprise scale, including the disciplined A/B testing and research-led budgeting he still teaches clients. As Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Safety-Kleen Systems, a roughly $1 billion services company, he led the customer-loyalty and retention work that cut customer churn nearly in half: the real-world basis for Asymmetric’s behavioral approach to loyalty.

Mark is also a founder and operator in his own right, the founder of Pegasus Sustainability Solutions (later Pegex) and Epoch Insights, with direct experience building and scaling companies rather than only advising them. That operator’s perspective is why Asymmetric builds products and systems for clients, not just strategies.

Today he develops the proprietary frameworks at the core of Asymmetric’s practice, including the Asymmetric Growth Framework™ and the Disadvantage Inversion Process™, and has spent more than a decade running competitive business wargames for companies facing serious strategic challenges.
